6- Initiatives

Adolescent girls and women had successfully carried out two youth-led advocacy initiatives for the local communities. Through a variety of non-formal educational, awareness-raising, and participatory activities, one initiative evolved around the topic of early child marriage. The second group has worked to raise awareness of gender-based violence through a football game and wall painting in a refugee camp. This has contributed to promote positive change in the region and paved the way for the elimination of gender roles and stereotypes.
Young women and adolescent girls are committed, engaged, and strong enough to put their initiative into action! They have successfully implemented an initiative under the name “Nun Al Qanun”, that incorporates a mock trial on the theme of “Combating all Forms of Domestic Violence Through Achieving Equality and Ensuring Justice.” The initiative’s content have been examined in light of international conventions (the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the two international covenants, CEDAW Convention, the Declaration on Combating Violence against Women, the Beijing Platform for Action, and Resolution 1325 – Women, Security and Peace, leading to the Sustainable Development Goals 2030). The initiative also established a discussion forum for the audience-presented case.

Girls and young women from Group 2 have successfully carried out their initiative by making a video that illustrates what a child would want to hear from their parents when they are experiencing difficulties and their marriage is at stake. While in reality, there are many difficulties in raising children and providing a secure environment in which they can reach their full potential.
